Tragically, the Yarnell Hill Fire killed 19 of the 20 Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew, the elite firefighters in Arizona that attempted to put out the blaze. The lone survivor has been identified as Brendan McDonough, who lived in the city of Prescott. Originally, he’s from Oceanside, California.

It’s so unspeakably sad that so many firefighters were killed doing their job. Considering how highly trained these men were, it just goes to show how dangerous fires can be — especially in windy situations. Let’s always remember the 19 fallen heroes in addition to the one who survived.
