Big casting news for The Avengers: Age of Ultron.  James Spader has reportedly signed on as the title villain for the highly anticipated sequel.

In the film, Ultron is an evil robot with time traveling abilities who, of course, manipulates events to create situations that will benefit him in the future.  He will, however, be a little different than fans will remember him in the comics.

Director Joss Whedon recently explained:  ”I knew right away what I wanted to do with him.  He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic.”

How will this pan out with Spader in the role?  This could be really interesting.  Will Ultron be CGI like The Hulk or will he appear in a suit, given the character’s mechanical structure?  Will that mean that James Spader will have to get in shape?  Female fans from his Stargate days will likely enjoy that.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.

It would be fun to see the Hulk whack him. Another blockbuster-to-be that I don’t want to miss.

Remain to be in suit like Professor X–the bad guy version of Professor X. lol Spader is a great villain since 1984. Great choice btw.

I love James Spader. He has been a creepy, sleazy bad guy in a bunch of movies.

The quintessential bad-ass antagonist, that. Let’s see how the Avengers kick his a$$ this time
