Big news for fans of The Simpsons! Producer, Al Jean, dropped one heck of a bombshell during a recent conference call. The population of Springfield is about to decrease…
Jean revealed: ”We’re actually working on a script where a character will pass away. I’ll give a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.”
Who could it be? Well, unfortunately, due to the massive success of the show, there are a lot of options! So far, the actors portraying Homer (Dan Castellaneta), Marge (Julie Kavner), Bart (Nancy Cartwright) and Lisa (Yeardley Smith) have all been recognized for their efforts on the long-running animated series. It would be terrible if it was one of them! A couple of guest actors, namely Kelsey Grammer and Anne Hathaway, were also honored with Emmy Awards.
Back in Season 11, viewers were stunned by the death of Ned Flanders’ wife, Maude, and then the departure of Fat Tony in Season 22.
Seriously, though, can you imagine if they decided to get rid of one of the main characters? That would be crazy. If it has to be between Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa, it’s more likely that one of the female characters would get the boot.
Lisa’s death would be so incredibly sad, though, and perhaps too serious a topic for the scope of this show. Losing Marge could be spun into exploring the misadventures of Homer as a single father. Of course, they could go with Homer or Bart but they would lose a lot of the original chemistry if they went in that direction.
What do you think? Who should leave the show?
