Virtually every Star Wars fan worried about the fate of the franchise when it was announced that George Lucas had turned over control of LucasArts to Disney but there was not much discussion about how this could potentially overthrow the theme parks.
A new report seems to imply that Disneyland’s Tomorrowland is about to be overhauled and that Mickey Mouse will have to take a backseat to Darth Vader. That’s crazy! I mean, sure the Jedi Academy and Star Tours are already there but there are other mainstays that have nothing to do with Star Wars. Does this mean that an attraction like Space Mountain will be rebranded? Will they really tear down Autotopia?
There is one big funny flaw with all this, though: Star Wars takes place “long ago” and Tomorrowland is all about the future … but I digress.
This, of course, goes along with the reports that a full-on Star Wars themed will be added to Walt Disney World in Florida. That makes more sense than recycling an area like they are doing in California where, admittedly, they simply have less space.
How do you feel about Star Wars taking over the House of Mouse?
