There are times when you find out that a group or artist hasn’t already been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet and it’s usually pretty surprising. This year is no different. I mean, how the heck is KISS not already in there? And will a solo artist who is already in the Hall of Fame with his group really get inducted for his solo work?
Check out the list and decide for yourself:
- Peter Gabriel (already inducted with Genesis in 2009)
- Link Wray
- The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
- Deep Purple
- The Meters
- Linda Ronstadt
- The Replacements
- Hall and Oates
- Cat Stevens
- LL Cool J
The artist or group needs to have released their first album (or single) in 1988 or earlier. While some of the nominees have obviously been eligible before, this is the first time we’ve see Nirvana, for example.
Votes will be collected from fans, historians, artists and within the industry. The acts with the most votes will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony in New York City in April.
