This story is simply unfortunate. Alyssa Jo Lommel, a student at the University of Minnesota Duluth, was dropped off at her home after a night of partying. However, instead of going into her house, she somehow passed out on the porch of a neighboring house. She remained there for nine hours in temperatures that reached -17 degrees.

Look below for 9 pictures of Alyssa Jo Lommel. The good news is that she’s still alive and is actually in stable condition. The bad news is that she suffered extreme hypothermia and doctors say they may have to amputate multiple limbs due to frostbite.

Her family tells us the 19-year-old is a very caring and smart girl with a bright future. While some are quick to pin blame on friends for not walking her to her door or on this student for drinking alcohol in excess, I think blame in this situation is unwarranted. It was simply a series of unfortunate events. Instead, let’s just hope that this young woman will emerge from this ordeal with as few complications as possible.

Clearly the writer of this “article” is no “bro”. As an old fashioned guy I would have waited til I saw her go in the house. We, as friends, have no accountability. Fear of “being in trouble” because you helped a friend makes you that much more worthless.

For a story about a girl getting way to drunk, was it smart to include pictures of her where she and her friends are clearly intoxicated?

Never did like alcohol or understand how getting so drunk to pass out, die, hangover, vomit is fun.I hope she fully recovers and people learn from this.

It is a very good idea to include pictures of her clearly intoxicated friends. To leave out such selfies would be journalistic malpractice.
