Sam Neill may be a big part of the Jurassic Park franchise but, despite appearing in the first and third films, it looks as though he won’t be back for a fourth.

The actor himself crushed the hopes of fans during an interview promoting his upcoming film, The Adventurer: The Curse of Midas Box. When asked if he’d be reprising the role of Dr. Alan Grant in the upcoming sequel, Jurassic World, he said the following:

“I’d never say no, but I wish them… well, I’m sure it’s going to be great, but they don’t need me.”

From the looks of it, this could be more of a reboot than a sequel. None of the former stars (Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum) have been tied to this project so it seems like they are looking for a fresh start.

Jurassic World will be released in theaters on June 12, 2015.
