There’s a school lunch menu controversy brewing at Carondelet High School for Girls in Concord, California. The Christian school recently announced a special school lunch menu as part of their celebration of Black History Month. Items on the menu included fried chicken, cornbread and watermelon.
Parents and students alike were outraged at the choices. Were the school decision-makers being racist with their selections, or just plain ignorant?
After parents and students responded to the menu, school officials held an assembly to discuss the issue and also sent an apology letter out to parents.
What do you EveryJoe readers think? Did the inclusion of watermelon, cornbread and fried chicken cross the line? Let us know in the comment section below!
