With 15 total medals in Sochi, France tied with Sweden for the eighth most medals of all the countries. The 2014 Olympic team from France finished with four gold medals, four silver medals and seven bronze medals.
The French team had a well-rounded showing in Sochi, medaling in six different sports — biathlon, freestyle skiing, snowboard, alpine skiing, ski jumping and cross-country. Their four gold medals came in biathlon (2), freestyle and snowboard.
France swept the medals in an event for the first time at the Winter Olympics, when Jean Frederic Chapuis won gold in skicross. His teammates Arnaud Bovolenta (silver) and Jonathan Midol (bronze) joined him on the podium.
