At age 69, Harold Ramis has died. The native of Chicago, Illinois did it all in Hollywood — from acting to writing to directing. He’ll be remembered for his work on movies that include Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Animal House, Analyze This, Stripes and National Lampoon’s Vacation.

The cause of death for Harold Ramis was autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. That condition causes blood vessels to become inflammed, which leads narrowing and weakening of the vessels. Eventually, life-threatening blockages can occur.

He had been fighting autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis since May of 2010. Let us hope this filmmaking legend is now resting in peace and preparing to make more movies for the big theater upstairs.
