After the way the last couple Transformers movies went down, it is understandable that fans have been wary of another installment. But after seeing an extended trailer this weekend during Noah and then a shorter one during the finale of The Walking Dead, I can honestly say that I have hope and I think the same is probably true of a lot of people.
With Shia LaBeouf out and Mark Wahlberg in, the feel of this upcoming movie is completely different. For starters, we have an actual man leading this action-packed sequel instead of a whiny kid.
With Nicola Peltz (Bates Motel) portraying Wahlberg’s daughter in this film, it kind of takes on the dynamic that Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning delivered in War of the Worlds - except that Peltz is older and hotter. There’s eye candy for both the male and female audiences.
In the preview, Wahlberg is a blue-collar, hardworking man (as usual) who realizes that he’s inadvertently stumbled upon a Transformer. Not just any Transformer, though – he’s found Optimus Freaking Prime!
Of course, housing the leader of the Autobots makes them a target and, before long, their home in rural Texas is swarmed by men in black. Optimus won’t let them go down without a fight and, after he springs into action, all hell breaks loose.
The effects look amazing, the storyline seems decent enough and who isn’t excited about the fact that the Dinobots are making an appearance? It’s crazy and badass at the same time.
