Everybody wastes time at work — some people answer personal emails, others update their Facebook status and some people even watch a little porn when they can get away with it. Government officials apparently aren’t immune to watching pornography while on the clock.

Allan Williams, the EPA’s deputy assistant inspector general for investigations, testified Wednesday that a career EPA official stored more than 7,000 pornographic files on his government computer. Williams told the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee that the employee confessed to spending (on average) two to six hours a day watching porn at work. That’s a lot of porn!

The discovery took place after the worker, who wasn’t identified, was watching porn when a special agent showed up at his desk.

These pornography allegations emerged in a broader examination of EPA workers, where officials are looking for fraud and other misconduct. The 16,000 EPA employees are facing scrutiny after the conviction of senior EPA official John Beale for collecting paychecks for more than 10 years during which he hadn’t worked. Beale lied to his EPA superiors, telling them that he was absent from the workplace because he was working on classified projects for the CIA. Who knows what he was really doing. Probably watching porn somewhere.
