It’s summer, which means it’s time for a vacation. And you know what kind of vacation I’m up for? One with my bros. I made a list of the best places to travel with your friends this summer. Do you have any to add?
San Diego, California
Thinking about visiting San Diego during the summer might conjure up images of the classic family vacation, but hear me out. It’s all about how you approach your trip to San Diego that makes the difference. Book rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel, which is located in the Gaslamp Quarter. This also happens to be the area where you’ll find the best nightlife in town. (There are tons of bars and clubs.) Book a fishing expedition for you and your friends — you can go for as little as half a day or as long as overnight, give stand up paddleboarding a try or learn to windsurf.
If budgets aren’t a concern this summer, book an international flight to Bavaria. While you’ll be too early for Oktoberfest, you will avoid the huge crowds and still enjoy some bonding time with your bros while drinking beer, beer and more beer. Beer halls, beer gardens, breweries… Bavaria has it all, and plenty of it. If you have any time after all of the beer drinking, you’ll find Bavaria is a good place for plenty of outdoor activities like boating, hiking, mountain biking and more.
South Beach, Miami
Unfortunately, any time I think of Miami, I get that annoying Will Smith song stuck in my head. But don’t let that ruin a great vacation destination spot for you. For single guys, Miami is a hot spot for clubs and… well, whatever happens after you meet people in clubs. Whether you’re good at closing deals is on you. During the day, you can enjoy outdoor activities, like visiting Everglades National Park because everyone needs to see crocodiles in their natural habitat at least once.
New Orleans, Louisiana
If drunken debauchery is at the top of your trip to-do list, New Orleans is a great place for you and your bros to visit this summer. While you can’t skip the action on Bourbon Street, there are a lot more bars to hit in NOLA. Consider booking rooms at Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter. They’re not cheap, but they’re also not outrageous and it’s a cool hotel.

If you and your buddies are into golf and you don’t mind sweating your balls off, the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is a fantastic place to visit this summer. It’s hotter than hell, but prices on stellar golf courses are rock bottom during the summer. The course options are endless, but I suggest staying at The Westin Kierland in Scottsdale. The golf course there is fantastic, and it’s also central to other favorite courses such as Grayhawk, TPC Scottsdale and Troon North. Plus, the food options and bars for late night drinking in Scottsdale can’t be beat.

Yes, seriously, Louisville is a fun place to visit with your friends. If you’re into history, you can do the tourist thing and check out Civil War Battlefields. For nightlife, Churchill Downs is a necessary stop. For less than a hundred bucks each, you can reserve VIP seats in the private cabanas, which includes four hours of an open bar, among other things. Don’t forget to hit the Kentucky Bourbon Trail where you’re of course obligated to sample lots of bourbon.

If outdoor adventures appeal to your circle of friends, an Alaskan fishing expedition is a great dude trip to take this summer. It’s the ideal time of year for fishing in Alaska (pro tip: the water is still freezing, so don’t fall in). Most companies allow you to pay to have whatever you catch cleaned, packaged and shipped to your home. Don’t pass this up — wild caught Alaskan salmon (and other fish) is incredible.
No list of places to travel with your friends is complete without including Vegas. It’s the epitome of a guys’ trip destination. Endless boozing, partying, gambling, drinking by the pool surrounded by gorgeous women wearing next to nothing… what’s not to love? The list of hotels you can stay at is endless, and the recently opened LINQ is home of the High Roller, a 550 foot observation wheel. You may or may not remember much of a Vegas trip with your bros, but you’ll have a kick ass time and that’s all that matters.
