It seems like Marvel can really do no wrong at this point. With the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, a relatively unknown set of characters in the Universe, we see that audiences are willing to spend their hard-earned cash to see things they know little about because Marvel has created such a reliable reputation for themselves.
This all has some people asking – will Marvel finally release a movie for The Inhumans?
According to Collider, a script written by Joe Robert Cole has been completed for an upcoming film adaptation. The project has been kicked around since 2011 so, perhaps, the reaction to Guardians has bolstered their confidence.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Inhuman crew also includes Ms. Marvel which would be awesome since so many people have been complaining about the lack of female superheroes lately.
Fans were first introduced into the group when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby wrote them in to the Fantastic Four #45 in 1965. They continued to regularly appear in the series for years but finally earned their own mini-series in the late 1990s. Originally granted powers by the Terrigen Mists, the Inhumans have incredible powers. They are also intriguing because each of them brings something different to the mix.
Marvel Studios‘ Kevin Feige had the following to say about a possible film:
“Inhumans is cool, they’re really great characters. The most powerful guy is the king who doesn’t say a word and if he does – lookout. That’s awesome. And the notion of the Terrigen Mists, this notion that you go through and don’t know what you’re going to be on the other side, is incredibly compelling dramatically. In other words, all the craziness that comes with Inhumans, we’ve done in the other movies already. But this would have some of the social drama that we haven’t really done yet. [Fox's] X-Men, obviously, has been touching on that stuff for a while.”
Are you ready for The Inhumans? If so, who else do you think should be cast in the movie?
