It’s almost time. In just over a month the fifth season of The Walking Dead will premiere and this newest trailer titled “Never Let Your Guard Down” gives us a real sense of what to expect.
There are plenty of suspenseful moments with Glenn gagged and tied on his knees as a guy approaches him with a baseball bat from behind and Michonne absolutely killing it with her badass sword skills. We can already tell that this season is going to live up to the tagline: “Hunt or be hunted.”
Last season, there was a real emphasis on the human aspect of everything and how this zombie apocalypse has affected them on a deeper, more emotional level. We learned more about each character’s back story and how their lives before have affected who they are as survivors.
It looks as though this season may continue with that theme but with a lot more action. In the trailer, we see Rick Grimes giving his teen son, Carl, a pep talk about dealing with the situation. It’s absolutely chilling to hear a father have to say: ”It’s not over until they’re all dead. They don’t get to live. No matter what you think, you are not safe. Never let your guard down.” Sounds like good advice and, fortunately, Carl continues to demonstrate the kind of skills anyone would need to survive in such a nightmare.
Something else that’s pretty exciting is that we are seeing the characters in clusters again which indicates that the spread out isolation that was so dominant in the fourth season is coming to an end. If they have a chance at fighting off both zombies and the freaks at Terminus, they will have to team up.
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on October 12, 2014 at 9 PM ET on AMC. In the meantime, check out this awesome trailer:
