Did your holiday bliss get sidelined by the PlayStation Network outages? You almost had to feel bad for the executives you had to deal with this nightmare since they couldn’t exactly focus on family time either.
Vice president of SCEA Consumer Experience, Catherine Jensen, explained: “The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible. From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.”
You gotta love the fact that she said “the video game industry” instead of just allowing it to be a Sony issue. Either way, the company is making it up to their customers by extending the PlayStation Store’s Flash Sale and Holiday Sale, according to the official PlayStation blog.

The Flash Sale ends tomorrow, December 31, 2014 at 12pm PT and will feature discounts on Dragon Age: Inquisition, NBA 2K15, Destiny, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, FIFA 15, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and more at up to 75% off.
The Holiday Sale will end on January 6, 2015 at 12:00pm PT and includes discounts on games, movies and TV shows (up to 70% off for PS Plus subscribers and up to 65% off for non-members). Some of the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita sale titles include Grand Theft Auto 5, Alien: Isolation, Battlefield 4, and more.
Honestly, it’s a great time to load up on some PlayStation games (and even movies and shows) if you have any extra cash. Plus, we’ve all heard how amazing Alien: Isolation is (if you’re brave enough to play it, of course). Hopefully, this is the end of the outage issues and Sony customers can focus on enjoying their new gear.
