Global Village 2.0 and Its Failed Plan to Cull Dissent
At the end of the Bush regime, the American people desired hope and change. They needed an answer to the economic crisis that was plaguing our country. Sick of the negative energy the homeland security state was manifesting upon them, they longed for something worthy to believe in at a time when elderly women were being mistaken for terrorists in airports.
In 2004, Adbusters Magazine released an article in which they doxed the 50 most powerful neoconservatives in the United States. The article stated: “Here at Adbusters, we came up with a carefully researched list of who appear to be the 50 most influential neocons in the US. Deciding exactly who is a neocon is difficult since some neocons reject the term while others embrace it. Some shape policy from within the White House, while others are more peripheral, exacting influence indirectly as journalists, academics and think tank policy wonks.”
The Canadian rag pointed out that many of these neocons were Jewish, so critics accused them of antisemitism while missing the larger point. Their goal, as we understand now more than ever, was simply to replace the neocons with a new group of statist disciplinarians. They wanted a new boss for their United States neighbors, so they strategized for a politically correct empire of herd mentality progressivism.
If they managed to do this from Canada alone that would have been impressive, but let’s face it – the age of the neoprogressive had already begun on our own soil. We needed no real push from our neighbors to the north. It was easy to see that neoprogs already existed all over this country, and were beginning to come into power. For those attending institutions such as The New School for Social Research, thoughts were being fed to them by the latest Marxist brainwashers of the cathedralite hype machine.
The New School for Social Research employed one great exception to the rule, the father of neoconservativism himself. According to the Wikipedia entry for Leo Strauss, “after a short stint as a Research Fellow in the Department of History at Columbia University, Strauss secured a position at The New School.”
This explains a lot. The political philosopher who was credited for popularizing the neoconservative movement at the University of Chicago (and other leading institutions such as Columbia) also taught at the New School for Social Research. This is a more-progressive-than-thou media-obsessed school of not-very-hard-knocks in New York City. I have first-hand experience at the school as I took a Media Studies class there. I have to say that it is at the very core of media-run statism, and its students and fans have been spreading like a really bad meme. They have begun using Straussian techniques to get what they want, and it’s all so very obnoxious.
I call these people Global Village 2.0 because Marshal McLuhan would be rolling in his grave if he heard what they were rambling on about. These neoprogs are seeking to turn his concept of the global village (AKA the Internet) into a passive community in which nothing challenging or uncomfortable can happen. They wish to create a brave new world full of laws that enforce their social justice utopia, and only support free speech when it’s politically convenient.
When you click-here-to-stop-violence, you’re eventually going to get killed by the state.
Promoting a washed up art-for-the-academy aesthetic, neoprogs were somehow able to gain control of the cultural program. Attempting to weed out the more anti-authoritarian subcultures such as punk, metal, and industrial, these chic journalists began to take the place of more radical activists because they “dressed the part” in line with their job. Therefore, dissent became a part of the system, and neoprogs went from annoying protestors to scary Nurse Ratcheds.
Now they show off publications like The New Inquiry as if they just bought a pair of high heels. They have become a bizarre crossbreed of this neoprogressive brand of Straussian elitism and Marshal McLuhan global-this-global-that-global-pictures-of-your-cat. They censor and delete anything that they deem unacceptable, and nothing is acceptable to this new brand of Marxists. They harp on and on about conscious and collective actions to create sustainable solutions for… wait a minute. What in the world are they all about? This is some very disturbing cult jargon. They are preaching noble lies to the pathetic and gullible and – much like Scientology – their Kool-Aid no longer tastes any good to the popular celebrities.
Yet what is it that they did to gain the money and attention of the global village and its assorted idiots in the first place?
Global Village 2.0 wants to tell you that they have redefined the economy and “hacked capitalism” so that it serves the people instead of the corporations. What they don’t want to tell you is that they only want it to serve their select group of critical theory professors, media journalists, and subdued “artists” who have turned into basic storytellers.
They fancy themselves as cutting edge, but they are merely an irritation that should be cut at its source. The head of this giant snake needs to be exposed. In the radical tradition of Adbusters, why not release a list of the 50 most powerful neoprogressives in the United States? Who is funding Global Village 2.0? It’s time to give these people a taste of their own medicine, exposing them for the common good.
Neoprogs are menace to society, and not in a cool or provocative way. Their blasé ikea-anti-capitalist branding has spread throughout the entire tech industry. I’ve gone to enough events with these people to know that their only “world issue” is the level of their Klout. At one of these events in New York City, these modern day Nurse Ratcheds were discussing a way to turn Occupy Wall Street into a literal currency. There were talks of “becoming the new 1%” through using what they referred to as “99% tactics.” They felt that Occupy would be a good brand for them to take advantage of, and seized the opportunity like flies at a picnic.
This neoprogressive form of capitalism grew extremely popular, and they worked to make sure radical dissent had been culled from our cultural program. People were now punished for shining too brightly in a world of liberal delusion, and telling the truth became a revolutionary act once again. Neoprogs sought to replace the soul and essence of patriotic rebellion with globalistic pseudo-diplomacy.
Yet the neoprogressives failed, and now they are dealing with the consequences. Neoprog is the new neocon, and the term is already being spoken with disdain. These soon-to-be-rubes are collecting the last of their paychecks, and Global Village 2.0 will not be the medium or the message much longer. Marshal McLuhan would not have wanted the global world of information connectivity to be a limited information economy of secrets and lies.
It is possible to devise a better market, and to offer people an alternative to this liberal brainwashing. We can create a new environment in which we judge people for their work, knowledge, and achievements, rather than the popularity of their value statements. These people don’t have anything tangible or sustainable to sell. Their value is at zero, and investors are finally starting to realize it. It’s probably a bad idea to even talk to them at this point in the act. They are going out of style faster that Lena Dunham, so it could hurt your status.
Nobody wants some neoprog wearing a velvet glove to rule with an iron fist that they didn’t even make themselves. Global Village 2.0 is burning, and through its ashes a new economy based on liberty, achievement, and greatness will rise once again. This is America. We live for the best and the brightest, and not just the best at kissing ass.
