On Wednesday, former NFL player Aaron Hernandez was found guilty of the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd. Along with the first-degree murder conviction, Hernandez was also found guilty of firearm and ammunition charges. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The former New England Patriot tight end showed very little outward emotion as the verdict was announced, shaking his head and looking at his mother and fiancee — who were in tears.
On the night of the murder Hernandez and two accomplices picked up Lloyd — a friend and a landscaper who played semi-pro football, at his home. Lloyd thought they were going partying together. Instead, they drove to an industrial park near Hernandez’s home, where Hernandez shot Lloyd several times — including two fatal shots to the chest.
