Sometimes, I’m at a complete loss for words when it comes to the human race. This is one of those times. Remember that classic 1973 horror flick, The Exorcist? It was supposedly based on true events but, fortunately, nothing new has really happened. Why, then, would a group of ghost hunters and a medium want to stir things up so many years later? For television ratings, of course!
The team of paranormal “experts” will include cast members from Destination America’s Ghost Asylum and Tennessee Wraith Chasers, as well as psychic-medium Chip Coffey. They will venture inside the home, located in the suburbs of St. Louis, that inspired The Exorcist in an attempt to exorcise its demons. This isn’t the first time something like this has taken place at the residence. The infamous exorcism of Roland Doe was performed there in 1949.
According to an announcement at the Television Critics Association, the network will be airing Exorcism: Live! on October 30 at 9/8c. First of all, that title is ridiculous but I do have to admit that they will probably draw in a good number of viewers since it will take place the day before Halloween.
Destination America GM Marc Etkind said the following: ”As we step into one of the most haunted and well-known spirit destinations in America, Exorcism: Live! will show exactly what is inside this infamous, highly dangerous and possessed home. By actually exorcising this iconic house live, Destination America will do what it does best — bringing never before seen experiences to television.”
After the viral success of movies like Sharknado, you didn’t think these people would miss an opportunity to tie in some social media action, did you? At-home viewers will be able to participate since multiple feeds will be broadcasting from the house. If a member of the home audience sees something sketchy, they are encouraged to report it on Twitter. Sounds legit…
Will you be watching the live exorcism on the eve of Halloween?
