No, you aren’t seeing things. This is yet another story about a hockey player with the last name Kane potentially terrorizing the good folks of Buffalo. Chicago Blackhawks star, Patrick Kane, has been let off of the hook after being accused of rape so let’s see what happens to Buffalo Sabres forward, Evander Kane.

Here’s what we know: Kane is being accused by the Buffalo police of committing some unspecified sex offense that is said to have happened last Sunday morning. According to the Buffalo News, something bad happened in a hotel room near the First Niagara Center where the Sabres play. The Buffalo Police Department’s Sex Offense Squad was called in to check things out.
A source in the department told the Buffalo News: ”We are not naming the suspect, and we do not expect it to be resolved in the very near future.” Of course, news travels fast when the suspect is a famous person.
While Patrick Kane is a white guy who grew up around Buffalo, Evander Kane is a 24-year-old Canadian with a much darker complexion. It should be interesting to see if the two cases are treated any differently.
Evander, who has not been charged with any crime, came forward on the team’s Twitter feed to say: ”I’ve done nothing wrong. I look forward to clearing my name.”
His team made the following statement: ”We take the allegation made today against Evander Kane very seriously. We are gathering facts and have been in touch with the NHL and Evander’s representatives. Until we have more information we will not have any additional comment.”
The NHL also weighed in: “We are aware of and monitoring the investigation involving Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Here’s one bit of interestingness on top of everything else – it looks like Evander has secured the same lawyer as Patrick (Paul Cambria). Story is developing.
