Jason Chaffetz, House Oversight Committe Chairman, will endorse Marco Rubio for president, according to POLITICO. Chaffetz (R-Utah) is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), and could be a good advocate for Rubio in the Mormon community in Nevada — one of the early nominating states.

“Marco Rubio is a conservative leader who understands the challenges facing American families in the 21st century,” Chaffetz said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to hitting the campaign trail with Marco to talk about the future of our country and the importance of electing a next-generation conservative in 2016.”

Chaffetz is expected to join Rubio at a town hall event in New Hampshire this Friday. Chaffetz isn’t the first top Republican to back Rubio. House Benghazi Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy and former Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa are also on board.
