A 32-year-old Delaware music teacher allegedly sent over 11,000 sexual text messages, including topless photos and videos, to a 13-year-old male student. Nicole Veneroso claims she “fell in love” with the boy, whose mother found the incriminating sexts on his cell phone.
Delaware State Police
The victim told his friend that he had phone sex with Veneroso. The duo kissed at least once, but it’s not known if it went further than that.
The court documents show that Veneroso wrote in a text message to the boy: “This isn’t like me and I’m scared. I am careful and guarded. I don’t leave myself exposed and vulnerable, but that’s what happened. I don’t understand how you have this effect on me. I have fought and denied. I have pushed down feelings, and it’s all been for nothing. I want things. I have collapsed. I have fallen … and I know it will hurt.”
Veneroso faces charges of dealing in child porn, sexual solicitation of a child, second-degree criminal solicitation, five counts of providing obscenity to a child, three counts of sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and endangering the welfare of a child.
In all, police found 11,650 text messages betwen the teacher and the boy. Veneroso taught at Everett Meredith Middle School and Silver Lake Elementary School in Middletown and Townsend Elementary School in Townsend. The investigation began in late January when the boy’s parent contacted the school district. Veneroso was suspended at that time and has since been fired.
