Two Americans – Hayden Gerson and Alisha Frank of San Diego – disappeared two days ago after getting off a cruise ship at Falmouth Pier in Jamaica. The couple reported were planning to go to the tourist area of Montego Bay, but they never returned to the ship.

Before leaving on the trip, Frank posted on her Facebook and Instagram accounts that she was going to take a “much needed break from social media for the next seven days.”

Frank has a history of drug use, according to her blog, but now works as a yoga instructor, life coach and writer, among other things. Gerson is the father of a young child.

It’s not uncommon for people to disappear from cruises. On average, one person goes missing a month from the luxury liners. In most instances they resurface a couple hours or days later. However, sometimes they are victims of crime, fall/jump overboard, or disappear because they want to disappear.

Despite Jamaica’s high crime and murder rates, in the past four years, only six passengers have gone missing in Jamaica and they have all been found safe.
