Since the Orlando nightclub shooting, multiple stories have circulated that the shooter, Omar Mateen, was leading a secret homosexual lifestyle. We’ve heard that he frequented gay clubs, communicated on gay dating apps, and even had a gay lover. Many are pushing the narrative that he didn’t kill 49 people because he was a terrorist, he did it because he was a closet homosexual, maybe even a scorned lover. But the FBI announced on Thursday, none of those rumors and accusations about a secret gay life are true.

The FBI has gone through all Mateen’s phones, computers and other devices, they’ve even checked out the devices of some of those who made the accusations, and so far .. no evidence to support the claims. Nothing. No photos. No apps. No texts. No gay porn. No cell-tower data. Nothing adds up to the twice-married terrorist leading a secret or not-so secret gay lifestyle.

So what’s the deal? Why would so many people be untruthful? Was it intentional? Were they paid off to help take the focus off radical Islamic terrorism? Does Mateen have a doppelganger that hangs out at gay clubs and on Grindr?
