We continue to hear story after story about people who have been fired because of their social media posts. And here’s another one.
A teacher’s aide in Georgia was fired after referring to Michelle Obama as a “gorilla” on Facebook. Jane Allen, who worked at Chestatee Elementary School in Gainesville, Georgia, was ranting about the First Lady taking too many vacations on the taxpayer’s dime.
“This poor Gorilla. How is she going to function in the real world, by not having all of her luxurious vacations paid for anymore,” she wrote.
This wasn’t the first time that the woman called Michelle Obama a gorilla. Back in August, Allen noted next to an article about Obama being one of the most admired women, “I admire a gorilla more that I admire her. (Wait I forgot, she is a gorilla)!”
On Monday, the school district announced – on Facebook, of course – that Jane Wood Allen had been “relieved from duty,” mentioning that district does not tolerate racism and discrimination.

What do you think? Should the woman have been fired?
