A group of Florida children who were trying to make an honest buck by selling lemonade was robbed last week by two teenagers who stole their hard-earned cash. Now, though, justice has been served: the two culprits have been apprehended by police.
9-year-old Lucas got the idea to open up his very own lemonade stand when he saw his mom whipping up a batch of the refreshing beverage. With the help of some friends in the neighborhood, Lucas built the business using cardboard boxes, balloons, and construction paper.
“I did pretty well,” Lucas told WFLA-TV. Sadly, the good times did not last.
“I made $13.41 and then I got robbed by two people. They took all the money and then they took my iPod,” the distraught child recalled.
Lucas’s mother, Jacqyeline Jolly, called 911 when she heard the kids screaming and realized that the thieves had made off with her son’s treasured iPod. Shortly thereafter, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to track down the perpetrators – a 16-year-old girl who was charged with two misdemeanors and a 19-year-old man who was slapped with a felony robbery charge.
Unfortunately, the officers were not able to recover the cash or the iPod. But Lucas does not plan on shuttering his business just because of one stroke of bad luck. In fact, he was back to work the very next day.
