Failed GOP presidential candidate and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has called on Melania Trump, the wife of President-elect Donald Trump, to take his cell phone away so that he can no longer post on his Twitter account.
During a Tuesday speech at the William Waldo Cameron Forum in College Station, Texas, Bush expressed hope that Melania one day “steals” Trump’s phone in order to squelch his communication with his nearly 20 million Twitter followers.
“Or at least have a rule about no tweets after 6:00,” Bush added. “He has a great team around him, and that bodes well.”
Bush appeared at Texas A&M’s George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Center alongside his son, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, and his parents, former President George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush. The erstwhile presidential candidate is in the midst of teaching a 10-day university course on civic leadership at the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
Both Jeb Bush and his son offered optimistic assessments of the Trump transition team, noting that many decisions that the president-elect has made thus far are similar to those that Jeb Bush would have authorized if he had won the presidency.
He also called on American politicians to adopt a “servant leadership” mindset, as epitomized by George H.W. Bush, in the coming years.
