Geraldo Rivera managed the impressive feat of catching Tucker Carlson off-guard with an underhanded jab at Megyn Kelly on Tuesday’s episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” during a segment entitled “The Friend Zone.”
“So I just gotta ask – we’re almost out of time – but you’ve been around for so long and know so many people. I want you to confirm or shoot down a suspicion that I’ve long had that all famous people know each other, and you kind of get together in private venues and sort of roll around in your famousness. Is that true?” Tucker asks jokingly.
However, Rivera seems to seize the moment as an awkward way to sneak in a swipe at Kelly, who recently left Fox News for NBC and had her former time slot filled by Carlson’s program.
“I don’t know if that’s true, but I will tell you this: Donald Trump put me on television a lot more than Megyn Kelly ever did.”
After a pregnant pause, a flabbergasted Carlson adopts a diplomatic tone. “I’m not getting involved in that! I mean there’s just no chance I’m gonna respond to that! I’m everyone’s friend here” he says.
Carlson then manages to correct the course, restating his question to Rivera and closing out the segment in a much more friendly way.
