An early sneak peek at the 2017 edition’s cover features the lovely Upton in bikini bottoms and a sparkly jacket that barely covers her ample rack. Two more versions of the magazine have a topless Upton staying modest with a hand over her bosom; in one, she wears a strappy swimsuit, while the other features Upton in a more exotic getup.
Upton’s successful modeling career took off, in part, thanks to her 2011 debut Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut, which proved popular enough to land her on the coveted cover in both 2012 and 2013. Although she’s undoubtedly happy for the exposure, Upton is delighted by the body-positive message that the publication’s editorial staff has adopted as of late.
“Those are the campaigns I want to do and the career I want to have – to inspire women to love themselves,” she said.
Upton got to enjoy a trip to Fiji as part of the cover photoshoot, which must have been a particular treat for the veteran model who confessed that the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit shoot in Antarctica left her frostbitten and struggling with her hearing and eyesight.
Last year, the magazine featured three cover models: plus-size lingerie model Ashley Graham, dangerously hot UFC superstar Ronda Rousey, and sultry blonde bombshell Hailey Clauson.
