A South Texas woman who found an illegal immigrant hiding in her backyard took pity on the man and provided him with food and water for three days – in return, the crooked man suddenly jumped her, tied her up, and tried to kidnap her in her own car.
The reprehensible incident took place near Carrizo Springs, where Border Patrol teamed up with the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office after a woman was seen walking along the highway, her hands bound with rope and legs partially immobilized.
Once they rescued the woman, agents determined that she had been giving aid to an illegal immigrant that turned up on her property. For nearly half a week, the kindhearted woman made sure that he had water to drink and food to eat, but that kindness was apparently not enough.
The man tackled his benefactor, bound her hand and foot with rope, and forced her to get into her car. As the crook scrambled to start the vehicle, the woman was able to jump out and escape. Agents later kicked off a search for the kidnapper, which quickly came to a halt when a footprint trail leading away from the woman’s home revealed that he was hiding in the brush.
At first, the illegal immigrant appeared to be unconscious and suffering from some sort of medical episode. When he was taken to a hospital, doctors realized that he was actually faking the illness. He has now been charged with burglary of a habitation and aggravated kidnapping, both felonies.
