The Austrians had a chance to vote for a sane president last year in Norbert Hofer, but instead they ended up with far-left lunatic Alexander Van der Bellen. In his latest show of regressive politicking, Van der Bellen has suggested that all Austrian women should one day don the headscarf to show the world how accepting they are of Muslims.
In a lecture to students, Van der Bellen pointed at last year’s elections as an indicator that Islam is under attack, claiming that should Austria’s “rampant Islamophobia continue, there will come a day when we must ask all women to wear a headscarf – all of them! – out of solidarity toward those who do it for religious reasons.”
Translation: since some women are forcibly oppressed by their domineering belief system, all other women who share a nationality with them must don the symbol of their oppression to stick it to the so-called haters. Liberalism is a mental disorder, folks.
Van der Bellen triumphed over Hofer in a second election battle against Hofer, whose Freedom Party espouses a populist, anti-mass migration platform similar to the one championed by French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen. His victory was seen as a defeat for conservative values in Europe and a win for an all-encompassing European Union.
Fortunately for the people of Austria, the role of president is mainly ceremonial, with the prime minister holding the real executive powers. Still, Van der Bellen’s support for doing away with national borders and creating a hodgepodge European nation has alarmed the right-leaning Austrians who supported Hofer in the hopes that the country would not go the way of Germany and Sweden.
