By now, you’ve probably heard that Christopher “Big Black” Boykin has died of a heart attack. I cannot even tell you how many times my household has sat through an episode of Ridiculousness and Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory. We were all pretty saddened and completely stunned to hear this news.

Big Black rose to fame as pro skateboarder-turned-businessman Dyrdek’s bodyguard with many of their adventures being captured on the super popular Rob & Big, followed by the shows I previously mentioned.

The big man with a big heart leaves behind 9-year-old daughter, Isis, and his ex-wife, Shannon Turley, has opened up to explain some of the details surrounding his shocking death.

Apparently, things had been rough for a few days and Big Black had been hospitalized as doctors monitored his heart. Already fitted with a defibrillator, his medical team speculated over the possibility that he might need a transplant.

Yesterday, staff at a Plano, Texas hospital attempted to resuscitate Big Black for 30 minutes before calling his death at 4pm.

Although divorced, Big Black and his ex-wife had been living together with their daughter recently as his health declined.

Of course, there has been an outpouring of grief, especially from Dyrdek who said that his heart was broken and that the pair were “truly brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure.” It’s so incredibly sad.

Hopefully, his little girl will find comfort in the hours of footage that exists of her father living and pursuing his dreams.
