Hopefully, you didn’t miss all of the craziness surrounding Ja Rule’s Fyre Festival. If you did, we sincerely feel sorry for you because, threats to people’s safety aside, it was kind of hilarious.
It all started with a promo video featuring models such as Kendall Jenner promising guests of this new music festival a truly unique, luxurious experience complete with top-notch accommodations and gourmet meals.
What ended up happening was the complete opposite. In what some have described as a Lord of the Flies situation, people arrived on a private island only to discover that the lodging was in tents (that hadn’t even been fully set up), there was no food, little security, and even less help. It took days to get people back to safety with many claiming to have been robbed of essentials and their passports along the way.
While we still don’t have any real answers about what went wrong, in addition to the harm this has brought to his reputation, Ja Rule could be on the hook for a lot of money.
According to reports, he borrowed $3 million from EHL Funding just days before the festival was about to begin to cover costs. Now, they are wondering how they are going to get their money back. They have recovered $900k in scheduled payments so far but haven’t heard from Ja Rule, or his partner Billy McFarland since April 21. Yikes!
As of the time of this writing, EHL Funding has decided to take the pair to court for defaulting on this loan. What a nightmare! The hits just keep on coming!
