Have your barf bag ready: a former Pennsylvania politician was convicted on two counts of indecent assault on a person with a mental disability after he confessed to fondling his 103-year-old mother-in-law’s breasts – a woman he had known for nearly 60 years.

William Spingler, who formerly served as the Radnor Township commissioner and has held other local posts throughout the years, characterized the bizarre crime as a “stupid, harmless act” that ended up ruining his life.

“I mean, my reputation is destroyed, my business is destroyed. It was just something that I shouldn’t have done,” Spingler, 75, told a jury on Thursday.

The disgraced politician was arrested in December 2016 after two incidents of sexual misconduct that he claims were not meant to do any harm. Spingler’s mother-in-law, who suffers from dementia, no longer recognized him, so he decided to jolt her memory in the weirdest possible way.

“I got nothing, no recognition out of her and I made the biggest mistake of my life,” he said. “I thought for shock value, you know, I could get her to say something, let her know I was there. I touched her breast. It was the dumbest thing I ever did, but I did it to get her attention and let her know that I was there.”

But Radnor Township Police Chief William Colarulo told jurors a different story. He alleged that Spingler told him, “I do it to get her going,” and that he sometimes kissed the victim on her mouth and rubbed her breasts “to make her feel good about herself.”

Spingler will be sentenced in late September and will undergo a psychosexual evaluation, as well as an evaluation to determine whether he should be registered as a sexually violent predator.
