After being investigate for sexual battery, officials have decided that Mike Comrie will not be charged with rape. The details of the case against the former hockey player (and ex-husband of actress, Hilary Duff) are pretty explicit.
Apparently, the accuser said the sex was consensual until he started engaging in anal sex. After reviewing her testimony and continuing to investigate, prosecutors felt that there was enough reasonable doubt concerning the accuser’s story and chose to stop pursuing the matter.
According to California law, sexual battery is defined as a person touching “an intimate part of another person” without consent. This kind of offense is, of course, very serious and, hopefully, the investigation was thorough.
Comrie spent 13 years in the NHL as a center but was plagued with injuries. Following his third hip surgery, he chose to retire. The 36-year-old is also the son of Bill Comrie, a businessman who founded The Brick, a hugely popular furniture store in Canada.
The athlete married Duff in 2010 but finalized their divorce in 2016. Together, they share custody of their 5-year-old son, Luca.
