They really made us wait for the title of the standalone Han Solo movie and, well, it’s a lot more predictable than many would have expected. What’s it called? Solo: A Star Wars Story. Pretty straightforward but, in some ways, it’s perfect given the character, right?
It’s a prequel so don’t expect to see Harrison Ford anywhere near this project unless they are planning to have him narrate the story as a flashback or something weird.
Director, Ron Howard, shared a video to Twitter and explained, “As we wrap up production I just want to take this moment to thank an incredibly talented cast and crew for all their hard work. Can we even say the name of the movie?”
How was it ultimately unveiled? With Chewbacca’s furry hands holding a sign with the word “Solo” on it. Wow.
Anyway, the film will star Alden Ehrenreich in the title role and, while Howard is currently at the helm, the project was to be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, but they left the film over creative differences with Disney’s Lucasfilm.
Howard should do a decent job but this title really has received mixed reviews. Red Solo cups have been trending on social media, of course. Let’s hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. We Star Wars fans are a fickle bunch…
