Odell Beckham Sr. found himself on the wrong side of the law on Wednesday after police discovered that he was carrying a considerable amount of cannabis as well as an unlicensed firearm, temporarily landing him behind bars.
The famous Giants receiver’s father and namesake was in Texas when he was picked up by police under circumstances that remain unclear, TMZ Sports reported. He was booked on one count of unlawful carrying of weapon and one count of possession of marijuana under 2 ounces.
Beckham Sr. was then taken downtown to pose for a mugshot before getting released on $5,000 bail.
Like his son, Beckham Sr. played football at Louisiana State University. He was a running back and gained 757 yards and scored seven touchdowns between 1990 and 1992. Beckham Jr. was born during his father’s senior year at the university and went on to play for the same school before getting snatched up by the Giants in a first-round pick in 2014.
Beckham Sr. also has an interesting connection to the legendary game from “Friday Night Lights,” in that he played for Marshall High School, which the state champions from Carter High School played in the state quarterfinals before advancing to the semifinals in 1988.
On the social media front, Beckham Sr. has earned a reputation for using his son’s fame to flirt with lovely young Instamodels, promising them fancy gifts and comped tickets to Giants games in return for their company. Can you blame him?
