Actress Annabella Sciorra is the latest high-profile Hollywood figure to come forward and accuse disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein of raping her, recalling a nightmarish incident that saw the bigwig producer force himself into her apartment and onto her.
Sciorra described the incident in an interview with the New Yorker, which saw the Emmy-nominated “The Sopranos” actress initially decline to tell her story before changing her mind after a flood of other allegations surfaced.
According to Sciorra, Weinstein violently raped her in the 1990s and sexually harassed her numerous times afterwards, causing her to live in fear and sleep with a baseball bat next to her bed. The first incident occurred after Weinstein offered to drop her off at her apartment.
“Harvey had dropped me off before, so I didn’t really expect anything out of the ordinary – I expected to just be dropped off,” she recalled. She later heard a knock at the door: “Like, it wasn’t the middle of the night, so I opened the door a crack to see who it was. And he pushed the door open.”
“He walked in like it was his apartment, like he owned the place, and started unbuttoning his shirt. So it was very clear where he thought this was going to go. And I was in a nightgown. I didn’t have much on,” Sciorra said, claiming that Weinstein walked around the apartment to make sure nobody else was there.
“He shoved me onto the bed, and he got on top of me. I kicked and yelled,” but Weinstein forced her into sexual intercourse. “When he was done, he ejaculated onto my leg, and on my nightgown.”
Weinstein then tried to perform oral sex on Sciorra, but she began shaking so violently that it caused Weinstein to leave “because it looked like I was having a seizure or something.”
According to actress Rosie Perez, a friend of Sciorra’s who knew about the allegations closer to when they occurred, the incident changed her.
“She was riding high, and then she started acting weird and getting reclusive. It made no sense. Why did this woman, who was so talented, and riding so high, doing hit after hit, then all of a sudden fall off the map? It hurts me as a fellow actress to see her career not flourish the way it should have.”
