Talk show host Wendy Williams completely passed out during the Halloween episode of her talk show on Tuesday morning, startling viewers who wondered if the medical episode was more serious than the 53-year-old let on.
Williams, who dressed as Lady Liberty in a shiny green dress and matching hat, was bringing the show back from a commercial break and about to begin her annual costume contestant when she suddenly began to lose consciousness.
“Our first caress…” she said – apparently trying to say the word “guest” or “contestant” – before going silent, a blank look coming across her face. Williams then went wide-eyed, stumbled back a few steps while panicked and trembling, and collapsed. Some viewers could be heard laughing at what they thought was a prank, but staff members could be seen rushing to her side.
When the show returned from another commercial break, Williams was upright once again.
“That was not a stunt,” she told the audience. “I overheated in my costume. I passed out. I’m a champ and I’m back.”
Sure enough, Williams proceeded to finish out the rest of her show energetically, even dancing with fans wearing Halloween costumes, without showing any signs of the health scare from moments prior.
After the show, Williams addressed reporters from the back of an SUV.
“I’m okay,” she said, per the New York Daily News, smiling and waving. “I’m going home, thank you.”
Williams then took to Twitter to quell the fears of her uneasy fans, some of whom worried that she might have suffered something as serious as a mini stroke.

“Everybody relax. I’m doing fine, just need some water and electrolytes,” she wrote. “On another note, I slayed and laid Halloween, LOL!”
