Still on that presidential grind, Hillary? The former Democratic presidential nominee made light of her twice-failed attempts to secure the Oval Office during a book promotion event in Chicago, quipping that she may don a Halloween costume that currently belongs to Donald Trump.
Clinton was onstage at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre Monday night to promote her election tell-all “What Happened” when the host asked her if she had come up with any Halloween costume ideas, the Chicago Tribune reported.
“I have to start thinking about it,” she laughed. “I think I will maybe come as the president!”
The remark was met with laughter and applause from the large audience, which was comprised of thousands of devotees who forked over upwards of $90 to see the former secretary of state dish about the most contentious election in modern history.
The night wasn’t all fun and games, of course. Clinton went on the offensive against Trump for allegedly going too easy on Russia, describing “a new kind of cold war” that the Russians are entering in by infiltrating American culture.
“The Russians are still playing on anything they can to turn Americans against one another,” Clinton said, calling on companies like Facebook and Google to “be part of the solution and not part of the problem.” Clinton appeared to be referring to reports that Russian bot farms have been employed to spread fake news and dissent on social media platforms.
Clinton also charged that Trump had “admitted to sexual assault” in the Access Hollywood tapes that emerged during the campaign, labeling the president “Exhibit A” for the sort of misogyny and sexism that she faced in her early days.
As for how she has coped with her crushing defeat last November, Clinton extolled the virtues of “alternate nostril breathing” and watching HGTV shows with “satisfying ends.”
