Friends and family members of a missing Nebraska woman are worried that foul play might have been involved in her disappearance after discovering that the last post she made on social media was about getting ready for a date with a stranger.
Sydney Loofe took to Snapchat to share a picture of herself with the caption “ready for my date,” KLKN reported. The 24-year-old from Lincoln has been missing since November 15 and her acquaintances insist that it is unlike her to just vanish.
“It’s very scary,” a friend, Terra Gehrig, told the outlet. “This is not normal behavior of Sydney’s so something has to be wrong, this isn’t something she would do.”
According to Gehrig, Loofe had gone on a first date with a woman that she met on Tinder and called to gush about how well it went. She was preparing for her second date with the unidentified woman when she was last heard from on Snapchat.
“The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are concerning,” said Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister. “Multiple members of the Lincoln Police Department, including our criminal investigations division have been completing interviews, following a digital footprint and corresponding with other law enforcement agencies.”
According to Bliemiester, Loofe was last seen in the small town of Wilber, situated 40 miles south of Lincoln. Her family noted that her car was still at her apartment and her address was last tracked in Wilber, but her phone has since been turned off.
Now, Gehrig is calling on residents of the area to keep an eye out for her friend, who she described as 5’7”, 135 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes and three tattoos.
“I can’t stress enough to the public to share those posts though because the more people who see it we’re more likely to being closer to finding her,” Gehrig said.
