How is this even possible? Michael Jackson’s Thriller album celebrates its 35th anniversary today and that just feels so wrong. I can remember being a preschooler and just running in circles while my brother played the record in his bedroom. It feels like yesterday. Insane.
The album became a huge part of pop culture with singles such as “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “The Girl is Mine,” “Wanna Be Starting Something,” “PYT (Pretty Young Thing),” and “Human Nature.”
Of course, the title track has inspired millions of people to recreate the signature moves at parties and weddings over the years. Not only did Jackson elevate the standards for music videos with those incredible special effects but the jacket he wore is immediately recognizable by people all over the world.
At the 1984 Grammy Awards, “Thriller” won a record eight trophies and we probably won’t see an album affect the entire world like this one did ever again.
