XXXTentacion was jailed Friday morning in connection to a raft of felony charges brought against him after his ex-girlfriend accused Soundcloud rap pioneer of regularly abusing her and threatening to kill her on multiple occasions.
The Florida rapper was charged last October with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness-tampering, Pitchfork reported. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On Friday morning, XXXTentacion, 19, was taken into custody after prosecutors brought seven new charges against him, all related to witness tampering and witness harassment. He allegedly coerced his abused ex-girlfriend into signing a document stating that she no longer wanted to pursue legal action.
A Miami-Dade County judge determined that the rapper had violated his bond form his initial arrest, landing XXXTentacion behind bars with no hope of bail. He will likely stay in jail until his trail; if convicted on all charges, he faces a minimum sentence of several decades.
A 142-page transcript of XXXTentacion’s alleged victim’s January testimony at a public defender revealed a horrific pattern of abuse.
She claimed that he first abused her just two weeks after they met, allegedly by slapping her across the face and breaking her iPhone 6S because she complimented a male friend’s jewelry. He then produced a “barbecue pitchfork” and a “barbecue cleaner” and told her to pick which one he would insert into her vagina – she passed out, and he did not follow through with the threat.
The woman said that XXXTentacion threatened to kill her “literally like every day” after the couple moved to Orlando. She also described a time when he “wanted to cut out my tongue” and violently beat her for humming along to one of his tracks when another featured artist was singing.
