Well that will give him something to sing about! Country star Michael Ray was taken into police custody early Wednesday morning after getting into a minor accident at a fast food restaurant that turned out to be substance-related.
Ray’s was getting a late-night fix from the McDonald’s drive-thru in Eustis, Florida, when he accidentally drove his Jeep Wrangler into the back bumper of the car in front of him, a police report obtained by the New York Daily News revealed.
The cops were called to the scene as a result of the accident, but when officers arrived, they realized that Ray was likely under the influence. The 29-year-old “Kiss You in the Morning” singer had bloodshot, glassy eyes and was speaking incoherently.
Ray fessed up to having just gotten out of the bar and flunked multiple field sobriety tests, the report indicates. An officer then searched his pocket, discovered an undisclosed quantity of weed oil, and then took him into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
Ray was taken to the Lake County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
The up-and-coming country performer, born Michael Ray Roach, debuted his single “Kiss You in the Morning” in 2015. It went on to reach the top spot on Country Airplay. He got his break in the music industry on the singing competition “The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep,” which saw him get the chance to co-write Big & Rich’s 2015 tune “Run Away with You.”
Earlier this year, Ray landed a guest starring role on CMT’s hit show “Nashville.”
“I’ve always wanted to get into acting, whether it be in church or high school or doing plays,” he told Taste of Country at the time.
