You might be able guess that when two titans of the movie industry like Meryl Streep and Steven Spielberg join forces, the result is going to be a great film. When it comes to their first live-action collaboration in The Post, you’d be right. But would you guess they’d find similar success in a paranormal sci-fi flick? If the results off camera can be relied on at all, then there can be no doubt.
As reported by the Times of India, Streep recalled an event that occurred the first time she and Spielberg worked together when she provided voice acing for his 2001 film A.I. Artificial Intelligence. As told to Empire magazine, “I went and recorded the voice of the fairy at his place in Long Island. All we did was talk about how his house was haunted and did I know a ghostbuster. And, of course, I do. So I sent him an exorcist.”
According to the award winning actress, at least, the house is now ghost free. “Everything is clear down there now,” she said referring to director Spielberg’s formerly haunted New York home.
Will a spooky sci-fi thriller be next on the docket for these two following the positive response to their work in The Post? I think it’s safe to say that’s doubtful; at least we know, though, that he can work on his next project without worrying about any distracting hauntings…all thanks to Meryl.
