“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Coming Back?

With vampire stories dominating the media at the moment, I’m not surprised by reports that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is making a comeback. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that a big screen return is possibly in the works but creator Joss Whedon would not be involved.![]()
Instead, the original film’s director, Fran Rubel Kuzui, who has held on to the rights since the beginning, is planning a remake (not a sequel or prequel). She also worked with Whedon on the hugely popular TV series, Buffy, and its spin-off show, Angel. None of the staple characters from these programs will be included in the movie either.
So, in a nutshell, we might get a brand-new Buffy movie but the creator won’t be involved and, aside from the title role, the most popular characters will not be included. Are you excited by this? If the show (and the movie that started it all) had not become such a cult classic, I would be less concerned but this is a series that has die-hard fans. On the other hand, this could be seen as a fresh start and Buffy will rise to slay again.
What do you think? Will you go to see this movie? Any ideas for who should play Buffy?
