10 Best Places to Stretch Your Dollar

Forbes put together a list of best bargain cities, and I thought some of them were somewhat surprising. Here
are the top 10 best bargain cities, according to Forbes:
- Austin, Texas
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Washington, D.C.
- Fort Worth, Texas
- Cincinnati, Ohio (tie)
- Indianapolis, Indiana (tie)
- Columbus, Ohio
- Dallas, Texas
- Houston, Texas
- San Antonio, Texas
The rankings were established using salary for workers with at least a college degree, unemployment, cost of living and housing costs. It’s an interesting list. I never really thought about living in Texas, but apparantly it’s a good deal. However, I think my little town of Logan, Utah, is a great deal. I suspect that smaller towns probably offer good bargains that even the best of the large cities can’t offer.
Do you feel like you can stretch your dollar in your current city?

D.C. is cheap? What a joke. It’s very expensive to rent or buy housing here. The methodology of Forbes seems HIGHLY suspect.
I was surprised to see D.C. on the list as well. But I guess if you compare it to other major metro areas…Anyway, all of these cities are more expensive than living in my small town.
