$100 Oil, Weak Manufacturing, Bad Stock Market Start: Happy New Year!

How are things going in our economy? Well, we could be off to a recession. I thought this CBS News MoneyWatch segment pretty much summed up how we started the year off as an economy:

    Wow, 20% increase in heating bills this winter. That is going to sting. Can’t say I have much sympathy for Starbucks though.

    :0) I don’t feel too bad for Starbucks, either. I drink cocoa (no coffee for this Mormon!), but I support the local fair trade coffee shop when I buy my cocoa (instead of make it at home).

    Good luck with the heating bills, everyone. Until we start using more renewable sources for all our energy needs, we will be at the mercy of unstable (and dangerous and dirty) oil supplies.
