If you are just pushing your resume and cover letter out, hoping to get a response, you may want to update your Job Search Strategy. Networking is definitely the name of the game right now. What new people have you met in the last 6 months? How many of them know somebody you need to know? If you have questions about networking your way into a job, feel free to leave a comment. 5. What is the greatest struggle you are facing in your job search
besides not being able to get a job in this economy. What else seems

How are you answering the question – “So, why are you looking for a job? or What happened at your last job or your last 3 jobs?” There is a way to frame your answer so that the hiring manager doesn’t get stuck on the last 3 opportunities, no matter how long you worked them.

I am a CPA and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) from Long Island.
I am looking for a position as a forensic accountant/fraud examiner.
I have been searching for a position for a year now.
My biggest hurdle now seems to be the fact that my last three jobs were short-lived(the accounting industry is notorious for revolving doors), and potential employers can’t seem to believe that I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time….

I would like to enter the Book Give-a-way.

Currently I’m a technical writer. I write user manuals for a manufacturer of consumer audio/video electronics.
I am also licensed to practice law in New York and Connecticut.

4. Tell us how long you have been searching for a job
My company informed me in January that they will be closing my office in June, and that I will be laid off June 19th.

5. What is the greatest struggle you are facing in your job search besides not being able to get a job in this economy. What else seems to be in the way?
There isn’t much call for writers of user manuals for consumer products right now. As for law, I haven’t practiced in almost 20 years, which makes me automatically irrelevant.

4. Tell us how long you have been searching for a job – Since November 8, 2008
5. What is the greatest struggle you are facing in your job search – I do not live in a major metropolitan area and corporate roles are few and far between. (We’re best known for our broccoli and strawberries! :>) Being a remote employee for the past 10 years has worked fine out of this home office, but now most companies i apply to seem to want someone at more senior levels (especially managing others) to be out of their corporate office. That doesn’t stop me from applying – but I believe it does stop me from getting responses like I would if I were in Chicago or Atlanta or NJ.
