2007 Will Be the Year of the Entrepreneur

2007 - Year of the Entrepreneur

I’m declaring 2007 the Year of the Entrepreneur.

Here’s why:

There are plenty of people raising flags about Web 2.0 and the bubble bursting again. And without a doubt there are many plain old stupid businesses out there. And I’m not taking away from the people who are concerned with Web 2.0 going poof.

But there’s much more value being created today than in the past.

Not in terms of absurd valuations, or money invested to make people into paper millionaires … but real value.

So good luck in 2007. May it be your best year ever. And the Year of the Entrepreneur.

  1. Here Here! Great rationale. I agree completely, there’s never been a better time to start a company.

  2. Chris – thanks for the comment and positive feedback.

I had hoped more people would pick up the call to action that 2007 would be the Year of the Entrepreneur.

I’ve read that 2007 will be the Year of Enterprise 2.0 – but it just doesn’t have the same ring to it! *laugh*

  3. It truly is a great time to be an entrepreneur.

  4. Great article. Thank you. waiting for others in this theme.

  1. [...] I declared 2007 the Year of the Entrepreneur right before January 1st…so it seems a few of us are in agreement! [...]

  2. [...] This is commentary on the approach to online marketing I am seeing by some big Canadian businesses. Ben declared that 2007 was going to be the year of the entrepreneur and today he wrote about that “My Fellow Canadians Agree – 2007 Is The Year of The Entrepreneur“. What Ben missed was that this site is a poorly disguised marketing piece for Roynat and the National Post. I am pretty confident that this is a paid service announcement. If this were in the magazine, this would be called an “advertorial” or some such thing. [...]
